Very unique, decorative accent symbolizing peace, hope and good fortune. These handcrafted ornaments are made from Japanese paper, and are perfect for gift giving.
In Japan, it is fabled that the crane has a life span of one thousand years. Known to mate for life, the crane has long been regarded as a symbol of fidelity, longevity and good fortune. In modern days, the origami crane is also a popular symbol of peace and hope.
My origami crane ornaments are designed to evoke a sense of calm and peacefulness. Placed in a window, the ornament’s crystal beads will sparkle and shine when they catch sunlight, adding a bit of playfulness to the simple form. Display it on your desk, your mantle, in your bookcase, or anywhere you would like to add a cheerful accent. Enjoy it as a one-of-a-kind decoration for your Christmas tree or as a very special package tie-on.
These ornaments are a perfect gift for any occasion – birthdays, Mother’s Day, graduation – whenever you wish to present that special person with something unique and meaningful. They are also perfect for teachers, coworkers, for anyone you wish to express your appreciation, gratitude, encouragement, etc.

This lovely origami crane ornament is crafted from a 15cm (approx. 6 inch) square piece of the highest quality washi (Japanese paper). On eggplant background, many different colors of flowers are scattered all over, accented with gold stems and leaves. Below the crane, two genuine Swarovski crystals in harmonious colors complete the design. The ornament is strung on a golden string, with a hanging loop on the top.
The crane has two coats of glossy varnish, hand brushed on rather than sprayed, to make it stronger and better protected. Because the paper absorbs moisture from air, unprotected bird wings will eventually lose their shape. If the varnish is sprayed on, it does not keep the paper rigid enough so the bird will often become misshapen as well.
The wings of all of my origami cranes are glued shut in order to prevent them from opening and sagging. Hand varnishing the birds ensures that they will keep their shape permanently. Varnishing also keeps the paper from fading, and actually intensifies the color so the ornament is very vivid and bright. Although the crane is water resistant, please keep it away from excessive moisture. It is not waterproof.
Each ornament comes packaged in a glossy white gift box with a note card which describes the fable of the Japanese crane and what the bird symbolizes.
Size: Approximately 3-3/4″ across, and 7” long from the top of the hanging loop to the bottom.
*** If you’d like to display your ornament in a window, mirror or any other smooth surface a suction cup can be placed, you may wish to order my optional WIRE HANGER. Unlike the type you find in the stores, my design allows the ornament to hang freely away from the hanging surface. I hand craft each hanger out of lightweight, sturdy stainless steel. If you’d like a hanger, please choose the “WITH A WIRE HANGER” option.
